Citing influences such as trumpeters; Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Hannibal Lokumbe, Lester Bowie, and Don Cherry.
He is best known for international touring and recording with Lamb, Adam F, Two Banks of Four, Lemn Sissay (Secret Society), Afrika Afrika , Finley Quaye and Cymande as well as his own groups, KDQ and D'semble.
Kevin has performed all over the world on legendary jazz festivals such as; Montreux, North Sea, Ealing Jazz, New York's revered Summerstage, Central Park, Manhattan as well as prestigious venues such as Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, London.
Kevin has made several TV appearances in shows such as, Peaky Blinders, as well as being a Radio host on Jazz London Radio, with his regular podcast show, entitled: Kevin Davy's D'semble
Kevin tends to work within a small jazz ensemble, from quartet to sextet for his own music, varying the instrumentation beyond the normal jazz rhythm section.
Davy's composition employs strong melodic content, urban edge, and elements from Nu Jazz, harmony from blues, gospel, and the near east. Space, tone and texture being important components of his musical direction with regard to the trumpet and other instrumentation.
Kevin will releasing a brand new contemporary Jazz album in 2022 collaborating with acclaimed producers: Sonskrif and Rex. A full tour to the promote the new album is also being planned.
