Biography

The most exciting among the newest and still undiscovered artists emerging from the finer corner of the East End is music artists ‘Kirkland and Macauley’. It’s been recognised they have set up shop and are having great success with their monthly event ‘Remmission' at the prestige McQueen in Shoreditch, Winner of ‘Bar of The Year’ at the ‘London Lifestyle Awards 2011’.

The club brand was established at the very end of 2010 with a vision of becoming the first bespoke main room house event in the UK to host the most up to date music with inspiration right from the heart of white Island.

The pair’s musical experience first came at a young age with drum lessons and Mike Kirkland started to DJ and by the mid nineties they was thoroughly playing the sounds of a variety of dance genres. Mike Kirkland played the local house parties meanwhile Shane Macauley was playing piano, he trained classically but he soon was inspired into writing his own music by the likes of the soul legends Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and many more.

The duo soon moved into more dance oriented music and trance at the start of the millennium and it wasn’t soon after the two began producing their music. “We started off arranging our music with all the basic DAW's, our knowledge was limited but we persisted on, over a few short years we had bought a raft of hardware equipment from the infamous Korg Trition series keyboards, sample based drum machines, to the old Emu modules and Novation Bass Stations and through trial and error we discovered what worked and what didn’t”.

After a couple years trying to find their sound the pair both went off to University in Southampton but still continued to write music and buy records, "we was listening to all those heavily sidechained releases at the time”. After a short break away and less uninspired commitments the two were back in the studio and with a plan.

And therefore we look forward to whats forthcoming from the exciting House music duo, stay posted for monthly mix releases under the Remmission brand and soon to be released tracks written, recorded and produced by Kirkrland & Macauley.
