Biography

Aged 21, singer-songwriter and pianist Kyan has always maintained that it is best to lead from the front. Since choosing to give up his university place at Kings College, London to pursue a career in music, his focus on achieving his goal hasn't faltered.

Inspired by the Stevie Wonder his mother played at home, a determined 10 year old Kyan taught himself to play piano on a tiny Casio keyboard. Unusually for a child, he skipped the stage of learning covers and started out by writing his own songs at the same time as teaching himself to play the piano in order to develop his original material.

Being awarded a £4000 grant from the Arts Council aged 15 convinced him that he had a talent worth exploring. This was further endorsed two years later when he was the winner of the UK Unsigned Singer/Songwriter 2006. In the summer of 2010 he reached the semi-finals of Sky 1's "Must Be the Music" with encouraging praise from judges Jamie Cullum “Britain needs talent like you that was a real moment for me we could teach each other some stuff”, and Dizzie Rascal “Your voice is wicked”.

Kyan describes his style of music as intelligent pop, soul, r “n” b. Songwriter Guy Chambers likens his voice to “a mix between Seal, Chris Martin and Sting He can definitely sing”. The feelings shared by his fans are echoed in the words of Tinie Tempah - “I can hear God in your voice bro”.

A prolific songwriter, he now has a catalogue in excess of 100 songs and growing. Kyan's songwriting is constantly evolving and maturing. Emotionally open and honest, his lyrics reveal the story of the day that song was written. He knows he has more to learn and more to give, “music truly is my life; I work every inch of it trying to be innovative and

creative. I recognise the great importance of the artist/fan relationship and I strive to give people what they want and enjoy, without ever compromising my own ideas. I usually write quite fast, an instinctive reaction to whatever has affected me that day - that's the way it works for me.”

Other music industry accolades; “he's got soul, he sings, he writes... a skilled instrumentalist, this guy is excellent” (Darwin Deez), and “fucking brilliant! Very John Legend but in his own unique way” (Evan Lamberg, EMI Publishing N. America) reflect the professionals' opinion that Kyan has a long and successful career ahead of him.

A regular user of Facebook, Twitter and myspace, he has recently written, recorded and produced this album “"Conversations;" now available as a free download from http://kyanmusic.com/ for 3 weeks until 25th July and thereafter may be purchased on itunes.
