Originally from Newcastle, DJ Lawal cut his teeth in Liverpool’s flourishing bass music scene, participating in various student club events as well as local radio shows via the Melodic Distraction platform, showcasing a range of underground music from Dubstep and Grime, to Trap and UK Funky. Among these shows he played opening sets for DJ Q and DJ Spooky.
As time progressed, and following a move to Manchester, Lawal has expanded his musical portfolio to include genres such as Disco, Hip Hop, Afrobeat, Techno and UK Garage, progressing to be a well-rounded and eclectic selector, whilst still not forgetting his 140BPM roots.
He cites DJs such as Anz and Metrodome as inspiration for his genre-switching style. Keep an eye out for this up-and-comer!
