On record, Lazenby sound at once fashionably retro yet unpretentiously fresh and modern. Their recent EP release, 'Let Me Live’, signals the arrival of a new breed of alternative soul. While the music is deliberately left under-produced and dirty with raw edges intact, the vocals are equally capable of producing moments of passion and breathless intensity.
It's slightly harder to put a finger on quite what happens at a Lazenby gig as this is where the real buzz is. The audience are faced with a modern day icon - a magnetic, domineering lead singer who can hold you in the palm of her hand but can just as easily throw you to the floor without warning. It is this, combined with outstanding musicianship and unpredictable dynamics, that have earned Lazenby a reputation as the best live act around, having won over a varied fan-base that includes everyone from indie kids through to drag queens.
They are now on the edge of becoming media darlings, having been 'Critics Choice' at the Edinburgh Festival for two years in a row as well as earning a place on the 'Best Of In The City' compilation and the Virgin 'Artist Rising' CD. They were the only unsigned act at The O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park to feature on the MTV coverage of the event, a performance that earned the band a review in the Guardian describing them as "Class". As well as being masters of the intimate gig, they are equally impressive on a larger stage and are looking forward to a summer of festivals across Europe including V Festival (UK), Montreux (Switzerland), Sudoeste (Portugal), the Cannes Film Festival MTV party and countless others.
