Lempo aka Mike McGuinness is a Manchester-based house music producer and international DJ. Having made a name for himself as long-term resident DJ at Manchester heavyweights ‘Bitch Events’, he’s now a sought-after name in the club scene across the globe thanks to his CDJ wizardry, seamless mixing and unique track selections. As well as previously hosting his own radio shows on Unity Radio and Cheshire FM – is there nothing this guy can’t do!
Lempo has performed for major club brands including Ministry Of Sound, Cream, Pacha, The Warehouse Project, and Sankeys – to name a few! He’s also become a seasoned pro on the white isle of Ibiza and a regular fixture on the festival circuit, with performances at Mint Festival and Parklife. But he doesn’t always take centre stage. He’s had the honour, and personal pleasure, of supporting artists from Snoop Dogg, The Prodigy, Calvin Harris, Rudimental, Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex and Hardwell.
Along with his hectic tour schedule, Lempo can always be found in the studio working on his own productions. He’s signed to many prestigious record labels including CR2 Records and Susu Music. Lempo launched his own imprint ‘Applique Music’ in 2011, which is fast-becoming one of the most respectable UK labels for the underground.
Collaborations with artists such as Artful (The original Artful Dodger and producer of Craig David’s ‘Born To Do It’ album), K-Klass, Will Gold, Nancy Sinatra and Canadian superstar, MC Flipside, have boosted Lempo’s production credentials with several number ones under his belt.
Consistent chart success on iTunes, Beatport and JunoDownload has gained support and plugs from BBC Radio One and Capital FM. But it helps to have support from industry peers which he’s had over the years from the likes of Pete Tong, Laidback Luke, Prok & Fitch, Kissy Sell Out, Claude Von Stroke, Eric Morillo and Roger Sanchez.
It’s safe to say the Lempo steam train shows no sign of slowing down with a monthly residency for Ministry Of Sound at Static in Manchester and an equally exciting release schedule to boot… It’s definitely a case of Lempo turning up the tempo!
