The London Accordion Orchestra began life in 1999. The ensemble plays a wide variety of music - from original works for accordion orchestra to show tunes and film scores. The are now 35 members of the senior orchestra and 15 members of our training ensemble, the London Intermediate Accordion Orchestra. For concerts we are joined by percussionists - so it's quite a sound.
In May 2013 we performed at the World Music Festival in Innsbruck, Austria. 2014 saw the orchestra host 2 foreign ensembles for concerts in London; 'Torkest' from Holland at the Dutch Church in the City and then the 'Nuremberg Accordion Orchestra' at St John's Smith Square. In 2015 the orchestra staged a joint concert with Akkordeon-Orchester Wiesbaden Dietmar Walther at it's new home in Pimlico. In 2016 we once again performed in the World Music Festival in Innsbruck, and came second out of 26 orchestras.
