UK producer Ben Downton, has expressed his musical creativity from a young age. Starting out playing in bands, he later moved on to DJing at local parties, events and even skate competitions. In 2004 his brother bought him a copy of Cakewalk SONAR as a present and he quickly got into making Electronica, Dub and Minimal-Dubstep.
By 2010, Ben saved up enough money to cut his own vinyl and self-release three of his tracks under the alias ‘Morah’— before then making the rounds at record shops to get his cuts sold.
A change of interests led Ben to start producing Drum & Bass in 2011 with fellow producer Locustlung. Together they wrote the techy, 4 track EP, “Sentinel,†which broke into Drum & Bass Arena’s top ten chart and was supported by Phil Tangent.
In 2016 a switch of aliases to ‘Low:r’ was the start of a bigger things for the Sussex-based producer. Releases on Such Music, Different Drumz and then on Soul Deep have cemented his position in the dnb scene. In May 2017, Low:r opened his account on Terra Firma with the bouncy track ‘Harmonize It’ taken from the Terra Firma: Vol. 1 compilation. Two months later, his summery two-track EP ‘Heron’s Skankout / Do It’ released on Terra Firma and is being played by DJs from every corner of the globe.
