Hailing from the UK, Mark Rae made his mark in Europe’s music scene following the success of his first collaboration, Rae & Christian, as well as establishing the former Grand Central Records and Manchester’s Fat City record shop.
Mark has produced over 100 remixes for artists including Bob Marley, Jay-Z and Dinah Washington as well as the Six Feet Under theme song. Under Rae & Christian, he released two albums including Northern Sulphuric Soul which ranked on the Top 50 British Dance Albums of All Time.
For his latest poject, YESKING, Mark partnered up with Rhys Adams. Although conceived in Jamaica, Yesking remains true to their UK influences. The album features guest vocalists including Ayak (2004’s Prince’s Trust Urban Music Awards winner), Dawn Penn (‘No, No, No’), Veba, Tor, Mystro, Kenny Knots, Sweetie Irie, Baby Chann (Suncycle), Prezident Brown (Hi Power Soundsystem) and Pete Simpson. Fusing elements of hip hop, dancehall, reggae and ska with live instrumentation and crunchy hip hop/R&B beats, the CD offers up the goods for everyone from young hip hop fans right through to old school reggae lovers.
