Hailing from the subterranean environs of Liverpool is psychedelic prog punk rockers Marmalade. Since forming in 2017 Marmalade has released 2 singles: Down the Rabbit Hole, a twisted retelling of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and their latest release, Spin On, a song about class and distinction; a representation of a current ‘Animal Farm’ - George Orwell.
Marmalades sound displays a duality that juxtaposes psychedelic escapism with jarring realism that fuels Marmalades perverse and aggressive performance. There is a clear influence of early psych that is prominent in the recording while incorporating jazz influenced chord progressions, juxtaposed with dissonant waves of distorted guitar feedback, ambiguous lyrics and energised riffs to makes for an experimental and unusual new wave of psychedelia. Bringing to mind bands such as King Izzard and The Lizard Wizard, Yak, Thee Oh Sees and Moses Gunn Collective
Marmalade is currently in the midst of releasing their next single, SPLIT. A perfect example of Marmalades duality launching the listener into a mind melting psychedelic frenzy. With a forceful rhythm section that moves the song through each head pounding section and a narrative that continues to escalate until a roaring Hammond organ surges into the mayhem making for an overwhelming delivery of aggression and insanity.
Release show for SPLIT is to be announced February 2019. Marmalade will be bringing to the nation Intoxicating performances in their effort of driving a togetherness in a world intent of driving minds apart.
