'One of the best Jazz Singers in Scotland' .... Aberdeen Performing Arts
'A Real Jazz Singer' ... Nancy Kelly
'Brilliant Phrasing' ... Sophie Bancroft
' Really a Very Good Singer' ... Mark Murphy
I started singing on the club scene at the age of eighteen annoying the band by improvising on the melody. When I first heard a recording of Sarah Vaughan, I became hooked on jazz.
I was taught singing technique by Donna Orlando and have been fortunate enough to attend workshops by Dan Knight, my absolute hero Mark Murphy, Sheila Jordan, Barbara Morrison, Sophie Bancroft and Fionna Duncan.
Over the years I have sung at many Jazz Clubs and Festivals across the UK and had the honour to sing with some of the best musicians around.
Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement especially to Mick Simpson and the late Rob Morsberger for all those hours we spent listening to recordings. Also to my late friend Alan Mackay who reminded me that first and foremost we are all fans of this great art form.
