Biography

Matters formed in late 2015 in the old industrial space of Digbeth, Birmingham. Difficult to categorise, elements of techno, post rock, psychedelic and trance swirl together to weave a dark, driving, all encompassing sound that shifts from film score to basement nightclub to industrial noise. Intent on being a live band from the start, rather than a studio project, Matters’ live shows are intense, featuring self created lights and visuals where possible, seamlessly moving from one track to the next to create a stunning spectacle.

In 2019 Matters took to one of Supersonic Festival’s two mainstages, alongside HHY and the Macumbas and Hen Ogledd. The band have also played with artists such as Holy Fuck, The Messthetics, Flat Worms, Merchandise, Hey Colossus and will be joining The Utopia Strong in December.

Matters' singles Black Mere, Night Glow, Mauveine C and Hannah all received airplay from Steve Lamacq, Gideon Coe, Stuart Maconie, along with NTS and others.
