2011 saw the birth of ‘Mellor’, the Reading four-piece quickly bringing their dynamic mix of anthem-worthy Pop Smack and nostalgic jive appeal to the world. It has been a phenomenal first year for Mellor, headlining a slot for BBC Introducing and packing out Reading’s Oakford Social Club after just one gig.
As a testament to the speed in which they have captivated onlookers, the ‘Pop n Roll’ purveyors were asked to explain themselves on regional radio stations within two months of forming. Six months in, and Mellor found themselves performing on the Main Stage of ‘Alex James Presents Harvest’ festival sharing the bill with the likes of The Kooks, KT Tunstall and Athlete.
This year, the 'Rock n Roll breath of fresh air' finally found the time out of their busy gigging schedule to record their debut single. The single, which is currently being recorded at London’s Miloco Studios, is set for release on the 25th June. With local newspapers awaiting the release and BBC Radio DJ Linda Serck remarking ‘who knows what the EP will sound like, but I can tell you that no matter what, the song craft will be top notch,’ 2012 looks to be another good year for Mellor.
