Biography

Miss Red bust outta Haifa Israel, when she grabbed the mic at an impromptu Bug set in Tel Aviv 2011. Already a member of the ’80’s dancehall obsessed, Easy Rider crew, she and her fellow reggae addicted posse, had spent teenage years cuttin teeth playing sound system shows in Israel.

But when she hit record decks hard with ‘Diss Mi Army’ in 2012, released on The Bug’s Acid Ragga imprint(thru Ninja Tune), her sights were set on global domination. Inspired by the likes of Sister Nancy, Lady Ann and Toyan, her love of dancehall’s golden age of microphone murderers, ensured her infectious chatting on the mic, captured the ears of audiences in Europe and America. Miss Red jumped stages with her live band 3421, and The Bug, regularly over the last 4 years, appearing at festivals like OUTLOOK, FUSION, UNSOUND, SUPERSONIC etc…

And now having also previously released the ‘Goodbye’ 7” single on Acid Ragga, and ‘Nah Bwoy’ with Bim One on the Scotch Bonnet label(via Mungo’s Hi-fi), Sharon Stern aka Miss Red, drops her first mixtape, ‘Murder’. With rhythmic heavy artillery, and lyrical guns blazing, she enlisted the likes of Andy Stott, Mumdance, Stereotyp, Mark Pritchard and Evian Christ, alongside Acid Ragga pioneer The Bug, to fire up any dance, and the tape clearly indicates the ferocious potential of this pint sized MC. The tape has already been spun on radio by Toddla T, and Mary Anne Hobbs. And CRACK magazine recently slotted it into their albums of 2015 chart, before it was even officially released ... ! With features in The FADER, FACT, CRACK, THE WIRE, PASSION OF THE WEISS etc..The tape is makin a deep impression.

With releases planned for Soul Jazz , Dubstoy , Hotline recordings and Mungo's Hi-Fi for 2016, Miss Red has ram raided public consciousness militantly, with a BIG BANG !
