Born in Kecskemét, Hungary, musician Dávid Fokti relocated to the UK at a young age and began developing the musical ideas which would eventually become Orpheus. Meanwhile Irish guitarist Niall Creane had also relocated to Birmingham to pursue a musical education and form a band in the birthplace of heavy metal. The two eventually crossed paths studying music at University, and instantly bonded over a mutual appreciation for Architects. The two began writing together in September of 2016, inspired by the likes of Gojira, Karnivool, Lamb of God and Meshuggah.
They then set about finding a vocalist and drummer to complete the lineup. After what seemed like a long and fruitless search, having trialled numerous people, they eventually found the perfect fit.
This came in the form of a classmate of Niall’s, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Luis Morrison, who was brought into the fold alongside his longtime friend and bandmate - drummer Ben Newton.
Excited by what they had heard in the demos, the two Birmingham natives eagerly jumped into the rehearsal room, and the group quickly realised they were onto something special.
With the lineup now complete, the band continued writing for several weeks and did an exclusive one off performance in July of 2017. Following the success of this performance, they decided to retreat into the recording studio to begin writing their full debut E.P.
Having spent the last year writing, the band are now set to debut their original material in 2018 and begin touring the UK.
