The Dolls began as a burlesque troupe based in Los Angeles, California, U.S., and expanded to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The group, which was founded by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995, eventually got a record deal in 2003 with A&M Records and Interscope Records. They were transferred and moulded into a music group and by 2005 they had recorded their first album. The current line up consists of Vanessa Curry, Lauren Bennett, Tiffany "Taz" Zavala, Crystal "Lyndriette" Smith, Paula van Oppen, and Kia Hampton.
The Pussycat Dolls first single was Sway, a track released for the movie Shall We Dance?. It was released in 2004 and was featured in the soundtrack of the movie as well as their debut album. Their second single, Don't Cha, was released on April 26th 2005 in America and late September 2005 in the UK. It featured rapper Busta Rhymes and featured creator Robin Antin in the video. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #95 and peaked at #2. The song reached #1 in 12 countries including the UK, Austrailia, Canada and Romania. It made the top 10 in 8 other countries also. It was certified 2x Platinum in Australia and the US and Silver in the UK. Stickwitu was their third single and was released on September 20th 2005 in the US and late November 2005 in the UK. It peaked at #1 in the UK and New Zealand, #2 in Australia and Ireland and #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. It made the top 10 in 6 other countries and was certified Platinum. The fourth single from their album was Beep which featured will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas. It was released on February 27th/28th 2006 and entered Billboard Hot 100 at #93, peaking at #13. I Don't Need a Man was their sixth single and was released September 25th 2006 in the UK and May 2007 in the US. Their seventh and final single from their first album, Wait a Minute, was released in Novemeber/December 2006 and featured producer Timbaland. It peaked at #1 in Romania, #16 in Australia, #24 in New Zealand, #28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #60 on the UK Download chart.
Their debut album, titled PCD, was released September 12th 2006 in the UK and Septemeber 13th in the US. It placed #1 in 5 countries including New Zealand. It peaked at #5 on the US Billboard 200 album chart, #7 on the UK album chart and #8 on the Australian album chart. It was certified Multi-Platinum in 7 countries including the UK and the US and has sold over 5 million copies worldwide to date.
Their second studio album, Doll Domination, was released Septemeber 19th 2008 and reached #1 in 5 countries. It peaked at #4 on both the UK album charts and the US Billboard 200, selling 79,000 copies in it's first week.

(You Are My Destiny), and featured A.R. Rahman. It was released on February 23rd 2009 and reached #1 in 5 countries including Austrailia. It peaked at #2 in New Zealand, #3 on the UK singles chart, #4 in Canada and #15 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Pussycat Dolls are coming to the end of their World Domination Tour ending in Asia. Also the end of thier singing as a group(?) mainly because Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Sutta and Ashley Roberts believe they should go in their own ways in life now. Kimberly verbally attacked Nicole by saying that it was never the Pussycat Dolls it was always Nicole.
Ashley Roberts said: "Yes, I have left the Pussycat Dolls..I love you all sooo much!!! I am so grateful to have the love and support of all of you. It was an amazing ride and I learned so much!"
Melody Thornton said to MTV, "Right now the Pussycat Dolls are on a break. It's actually a much-needed break. It's like when you're with your sisters for 24 hours a day and you need to take your own shower." Thornton said that the Dolls will eventually find their way back to one another.
Reaffirming the group's position, on March 4 Nicole Scherzinger told MTV that her position with the group is secure though it will consist of a new line-up with hopes of releasing a new album near the end of 2010. She also stated that she is in the studio recording music.
On December 5 2010, Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls, announced that she is leaving the band to concentrate on her solo career and acting projects. Scherzinger follows the four other members - Kimberly Wyatt, Melody Thornton, Jessica Sutta and Ashley Roberts in exiting the group.
The group was then reformed with six new members; Vanessa Curry, Lauren Bennett, Tiffany "Taz" Zavala, Crystal "Lyndriette" Smith, Paula van Oppen, and Kia Hampton.
