Quiet Quiet Band began in humble beginnings as the three-piece in the wake of Heartwear Process' on and off hiatus. Formed of ex-Heartwear member Paul Smith, bassist Scott Painter and drummer Jonathan Hare-Winton. Completely by accident and strange twist of fate, the band was to add two further ex-Heartwear members (Tom Purcell and Jay Newton) as time progressed. The group became somewhat of a dark horse in the Reading area music scene, known for sporadically playing the most raucous of gigs, and not releasing much in the way of recordings.

In mid-2010 the group added violist Devon Gillespie in order to further increase their 'not folk' image. To cries of horror and disbelief, the group self-recorded and released a free single 'RIP to the NHS' in May 2011 in aid of spreading madness and discontent in the populous, as well as a couple of tracks that had been kicking around in the back of someone's car almost since the formation of the band.

In February 2012 the band released its first single, live favourite 'Flatlands,' and their most high-profile gigs to date followed, supporting both Emmy the Great (February) and Young Knives (November). One year later a split EP with local legend and Olympic Hobbit-mound stander Ben Marwood. 'Lay Low' saw QQB played on local BBC radio, and mumble through promises of an album by the end of 2013. As they stray merrily towards that lofty goal, they have played local festivals, and a smattering of headline shows in small venues around the area.
