Rebeka is a fusion of two strong individuals into one even stronger musical being. Ivy and Bart - two composers - are extremely different personalities who challenge themselves every step of the way. Rebeka is an unusual duo - a crazy and unpredictable warrior, whose energy reaches a climax at concerts.
Rebeka is as fascinated by pop melodies and song writing as they are by the constant search for interesting, experimental sounds. They combine electronics with alternative pop, using different kinds of equipment for their compositions: analog synthesisers from the 80s, synth toys, electric and bass guitars, a tape dictaphone and more. The duet’s stage charisma, sophisticated compositions, Ivy’’s deep and ambiguous lyrics, and finally her strong voice, are Rebeka’s trademarks.
The duo’s debut album, Hellada, is as complete and elaborate as it is full of beauty, dirt and emotions. The cold sound of the synthesisers and pulsing rhythm of the bass transform the listener as they are sucked into personal stories to which they cannot remain indifferent. Hellada has received very enthusiastic reviews and was chosen by Gazeta Wyborcza journalists to receive the most important, prestigious title of the Album of the Year.
Rebeka’s latest self-release, “Breath” EP reveals their new, darker side.
For the past three years Rebeka has been a recurring guest at festivals such as Open’er, Pohoda, Positivus. Rebeka appeared also at The Great Escape in Brighton, Reeperbahn Festival in Germany, Europavox in France and Eurosonic Noorderslaag in Netherlands, among others. They opened for Damon Albarn in Poland and played at Boiler Room in 2014. In 2015, they played their first ever mini-tour in Germany and sold out shows in Berlin and Dresden. They finished their BREATH Tour in Warsaw with a sold-out show for more than 1000 people. Their fist mini-tour in UK in March 2015 included a dancing crowd in Bristol and a full house show in London at The Old Blue Last.
