Reuben Lovett is a folk rock, musician and song writer based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. He is focused on composing and playing original material both as a solo artist and as front man for The Confusion.
Reuben started making music as a youngster, learning classical guitar at school and eventually playing with the school jazz band. Keen to learn more local musician Colin Hartley became something of a mentor, encouraging Reuben to follow his passion. At the same time Reuben was a member of The Everyman Youth Theatre.
Whilst still at school Reuben (Bass and Lead Vocals), hooked up with Alec Hopkins (Guitar and Backing Vocals) and Dougie Stokes (Guitar and Backing Vocals). With the addition of Toby Jones (Drums), Delicate Holly was born and the four piece rock band quickly established themselves on the local music scene. Playing frequently sold out shows in the Gloucester area and appearing at several local festivals, Delicate Holly have supported bands like The Subways and Coasts.
After leaving school Reuben studied music at Stroud College, where along with fellow students, Max Lee, Jose Parkes, Alex Stringer and Glenn Richmond he fronted the band My Mother Lie. The raw and angst laden sound of this alternative hard rock, five piece group, has clearly had an important influence on Reuben's high energy solo performances.
Reuben continues to develop his musical skills, having taken on the role of session player with both Floorboards, and Edd Donovan and the Wandering Moles. He is currently working on a couple of different film scores.
Reuben's music is sensitive and thoughtful, with a soulful drive, angsty guitar work, and delicious vocal lines.
Since the beginning of 2018 Reuben has begun exploring a new project,
the Confusion. We now have a full lineup, including Millie Batchelor on Bass Guitar, Max Flenley on keys, and In beautiful harmony Jack Nelder on the drum kit.
