Riki’s passion for music stemmed from his parents who were British Rock & Roll dance champions. He spent many nights visiting nightclubs, listening to the music and watching the bright light shows. In 1992, at the age of 16, Riki took his first steps to beginning his career as a DJ. Learning to mix first with tape cassettes before moving on to vinyl. He has grown a massive record collection, covering all the dance genres (garage, trance, old skool, hardcore and jungle). But his main love is ‘House Music’.
Spurred on by his childhood memories and his passion for music, Riki quickly gained residencies in over 30 top London clubs/bars and DJ’d for many events. Examples of these include the ‘Disney Christmas Party' and the ‘American Pie - Wedding’ movie premier at ‘Planet Hollywood’.
In 2010 Riki moved to Turkey where he spent a year playing many of the Istanbul clubs and bars. He also hosted the Friday night house music weekend warmup show on Turkish national radio (N101 FM) for a period of 6 months. This led to him playing at Istanbuls famous ‘SupperClub’ a number of times and being a headline act at the Istanbul Festival (DJ Fest), where he played along side Turkeys top DJs. Riki’s London residencies included Sound, Cheers, Planet Hollywood, Ruby Blue, OBar, Bar Soho, Oxygen, Metra, Lvpo, Shadow Lounge, Liquid Blue, Sports Cafe, Rock Garden /Gardening Club, Walkabout, School Disco, Strawberry Moons, Sirocco and Zoo Bar. While playing the commercial clubs Riki was also playing at Londons ‘less’ commercial clubs such as ‘The Hanover Grand’ and ’Heaven’ along with a number of underground parties and warehouse raves for various event promoters including ‘Moondance / Epidemik’.
Aside from the DJ'ing Riki has a passion for lights and lasers which stemmed from the amazing shows and raves he attended as a youngster such as ‘World Dance’, ‘United Dance’ and ‘Elevation’. In 2000 Riki decided to set up his own company called ‘Mirror Images Lasers’ providing DJ equipment, lights and lasers for clubs, parties and festivals all over the UK. This is something that continues to this day and you’ve probably seen his equipment at many festivals, raves and event live streams.
In 2019 Riki started the popular Facebook group called ‘Old Skool Selecta’ which has 1000’s of members and has even featured in a Facebook ad campaign. During lockdown Riki hosted regular Old Skool vinyl live streams for his group members. These can be found here: https://www.mixcloud.com/old-skool-selecta
