Biography

Hailing from South Manchester, RJ's unique flow, local accent and distinct visual presence have been contributing to a thriving music scene in Manchester for some time now. Originally a Grime MC offering raw content put together in a boastful, witty and yet eloquent way RJ supported the likes of Akala and Ghetts at their respective Manchester shows at just 18 years old.

With music put on hold for a number of years, RJ came back to the game that he loves and missed with a new fire in his belly and a much more rounded and experienced view on life. He quickly signed to Midication Recordings in 2017 and began working with Manchester veteran JSD. Tracks such as 'Growing Pains' and '7:15' deliver heart felt, powerful lyrics about growth and escaping the demons he once battled with daily bringing him to the point he is at now, where he feels he can be who he was always supposed to.

His debut EP 'Be Yourself' continues this open conversation of self healing and maturity in the title track and 'Still' whilst also delving deeper into his past and reflecting on those experiences which moulded him in 'Different' and 'LOVE (drugs)'. 'Wavey Music' and 'Bobby Jukkaz' introduced some vocal melodies to RJ's catelogue and showed that as well as being a gifted rapper, he has begin to grow into a recording artist who can make great music.

In addition to this journey of new music he has remained true to his roots releasing tracks for the Grime purists such as 'Airmax', 'Manchester Grime' and Freestyles exclusively avaliable on YouTube and SoundCloud like 'One Take' and 'Thomas Shellby Part 3'. Collaborations with other local artists such as Kious and Gilly MCR have also played a part in cementing his self-proclaimed 'Barsman' title in his city. This was evidence by his performance at Parklife Festival in 2019.

Everything that has been released up until this point has been an introduction for what is to come towards the end of 2020; RJ's first album. You've been given glimpses of his journey so far but he is now ready to give you the full story!
