Rob was born twenty odd miles down the M61. He was first heard on the radio in Manchester at the age of 23 and gave himself the title ‘Prince of Manchester’s Airwaves’…four days into this, his then boss, told him to drop the title because it came across as a little arrogant for someone who had just arrived in the city.
Rob took this on board and the following evening renamed himself ‘Rob Ellis, the worst DJ in Manchester’. Not amused, he was ordered to drop all stupid titles and just go by the name of ‘Rob Ellis’.
Fast forward eight years, to a different radio station and Rob could easily rename himself ‘The King of Manchester’s Airwaves’…he won’t though - I think he’d prefer ‘Rob Ellis, the worst DJ in Manchester’……it’s funnier!
