Biography

Blackpool's Ryan Gleeson is one of the UK's most in demand comedians, performing across the country since the age of just 16, when he was introduced to the world of entertainment by a friend of his, who gave Ryan his first ever comedy club gig in Barnsley.

Ryan did rather well at this gig and continued along this path of success, working his way through the ranks of comedic hierarchy to become an established headline act and in demand compere throughout the U.K. He reached the finals of the prestigious City Life North West Comedian of the Year three times, as well as landing a place in the semi finals of So, You Think You're Funny? for Channel 4 at the Edinburgh Festival.

Ryan was given the name "Local Celebrity" when a local paper was promoting a show in Bolton and billed him with the hyperbolic title, despite the fact that Ryan had never been to Bolton before and that he isn't Peter Kay, Vernon Kay, or Amir Kahn! Since then, promoters hilariously billed him as Local Celebrity Ryan Gleeson and the name stuck.

Since 2002, Ryan has been the resident compere at Blackpool's Comedy Station comedy club, which runs every Friday and Saturday in the seaside town and boasts being the first ever comedy club in the Fylde Coast.

If Ryan's face is familiar, it may be because you've seen him popping up on T.V. shows such as ITV's This Morning, Richard Hammond's 5 O'clock Show, various satellite shows, or his own daily hour long show, Talk Lancashire on Freeview across the North West of England.

Ryan is a regular guest on BBC radio, which has also led to Ryan becoming a much requested actor, voice over for adverts, mobile apps and as a presenter for shows and corporate awards ceremonies.
