Sam Carter is a twenty-five year old singer-songwriter and outstanding fingerstyle guitarist from the English Midlands, now based in London. He has studied guitar with Martin Simpson and has already supported artists including Bellowhead, Seth Lakeman, Rachel Unthank, The Winterset, Davey Graham, Spiers & Boden, Findlay Brown and John Smith. In summer 2007 he took part in a collaborative project with Nitin Sawhney which culminated in a performance at the Royal Festival Hall and as a result has been appointed Emerging Artist in Residence at the Southbank Centre. Sam won Horizon Award for best newcomer at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
