Sam Dickinson is a YouTube top 40 charting singer songwriter from Newcastle Upon Tyne whose “soul sound is inspired by Simply Red and Gabrielle” (Evening Chronicle).
This summer Sam Dickinson is bringing his soul sound to the North East of England with a series of tour dates. He will open his tour, with his 5 piece band, on the 26th August at the Forum Music Centre in Darlington before playing at Newcastle’s newest soul venue, Hoochie Coochie, on August 27th and then closing his tour at The Georgian Theatre in Stockton on September 7th. He will be showcasing his blend of soul and jazz at Newcastle Pride on July 21st in front of 20,000 opening for 80’s diva Sonia. On top of that he will be
performing around the UK for various charities.
Sam Dickinson’s first foray into the public eye was his show stopping
performance at Northern Pride 2009. This has since led him to play festivals across the North of England alongside acts such as Basshunter, Kelis, Nicki French and support one of the UK’s biggest dance acts, Amanda Wilson of the Freemasons. He is lucky enough to have recently been publically backed by his idol, Gabrielle, who re-tweeted his version of her song ‘Give Me A Little More Time.’ His followers include Beverley Knight and Mica Paris.
Sam is at present starting work on his debut album which will be produced by Stu Emerson, who has worked with Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler. He will also be teaming up with a very well known songwriter as well as his usual team of writers.
Sam Dickinson’s music is British soul at it’s newest and most vibrant. Prepare for the ‘Summer of Soul’.
