Shumba Youth has quickly become a household name in the London Reggae scene. You can catch him regularly stirring up riddims across the capital. Roots and culture are a powerful influence in this young artist’s style. His message can be heard loud and clear above the basslines of Dub, Dancehall, Jungle and Afrobeats.
Shumba has worked with a variety of producers such as Bucky Jo (Buzzwakk Records), Singe Dread Sound (Poland), Marvellous Cain & Mark C (Yardrock Junglist Foundation). His first solo EP project ‘Hot Like Lava’. Produced by Leo Samson, was released on Reggae Roast label, Summer 2017, in conjunction with his distinctive singles ‘Buss It’, ‘Ninja’ and ‘Check It Out’. Regular radio play from the likes of Capital Xtra’s Ras Kwame and BBC 1xtra’s Sir David Rodigan has corroborated Shumba Youth’s position as a rising star in UK bass culture.
While he’s not in the studio recording, Shumba can often be found performing at festivals and events across the UK & Europe. Highlights this year have included Glastonbury, Boomtown and Bestival to name a few!
