A celebration of some of the great songs born in New York City along with the artists and songwriters who have made it the birthplace of so much of the modern repertoire of popular song in recent times. This night focuses on that most fertile period of the 1970's - "the album-buying decade" - when Laura Nyro, Carole King, Paul Simon, Janis Ian, Phoebe Snow and the great Todd Rundgren (who sneaks in on a technicality! were some of the most innovative and prolific names in music and Carole Bayer Sager and Billy Joel were busy writing and performing so many of their memorable and often beautiful pop songs.
