Biography

Stu-E took an interest in DJ'ing when he was 14 years old and started off playing for friends birthday parties on his cheap belt drive turntables. The passion for music continued to grow and when he left school he then went on to dj at a nightclub in Skegness playing commercial dance and hard house. In Summer 2003 Stu-E spent the summer in Falaraki, Greece.

When Stu-E returned to England in August 2004 he had his break into the Bassline scene thanks to the legendary Naughty Nick, He started to work at Studiobeatz record shop and representing the label at all there Club nights in all the main Bassline cities, He also began to make the famous monthly mix cds that were a massive success, Released his first speed garage LP "Fire It Up" on the Studiobeatz record label that featured in the IDJ magazine and started his own night up @ the bedroom (West Street).

In 2005 Stu-E won the Kama Awards best newcomer Dj award and In July 2005 left Studiobeatz to start his own projects and run a night called Bass Heaven @ Adelphi. In December 2005 Stu-E launched his own record label (Deep Flight) and shortly after started a second sub label (Azbo records).

In March 2006 Stu-E took the opportunity to work alongside the infamous Martin Leverton who was the founder and main distributer of the North's Bassline House scene. He took up residency with The Reflective Allnighter and started to work at the biggest independent record shop of the north Reflex Records.

In 2007 Stu-E went to play over in Ibiza with the Bassline Weekender team.

In June 2009 Stu-E became manager @ The Vault night club Rotherham and in July 2009 relaunched Bass Heaven there.

In November 2009 Stu-E took Bass Heaven to Citrus Rooms in Barnsley and became promotions manager and resident DJ there while continuing his residency with Reflective that was based at the O2 Academy in Sheffield at the time and taking more responsibility within his role with the Reflective brand to become the Promoter.

Sadly 2010 led to the death of Bassline due to the sound of Bassline merging to closely with the grime scene and attracting trouble at the events with the police and licensing then taking a zero tolerance to events Stu-E was left with no alternative than to change music styles or put the brakes on his DJ career.

Remaining loyal to his chosen genre Stu-E opted to not jump on the Jackin/Deep House bandwagon that most Dj's in the scene did and like a true captain went down with the sinking ship that was Bassline.

In 2013 (3 years later) after enough time had passed and Bassline and its bad press where a thing of the past it was time to make a return. Martin and Stu-E relaunched Reflective at a little night club called 'Studio 54' FKA Static/Takapuna where they had an attendance of around 250 people. This got bigger and better at every event and after only 6 months they had to find a bigger venue and so in November 2013 Reflective launched its first event at Embrace (The Box), Sheffield that turned out to be the biggest Bassline event that had been seen for many years.

In 2014 Embrace was closed by the council to make way for further retail development and so Reflective still as vibrant as ever returned to its original venue Plug FKA as .Zero.

Currently Stu-E continues with Reflective @ Plug and occasionally although very selectively takes booking outside of his own projects.

Released in 2015 Available on 'Deep Flight Records' is the Dj Stu-E Complete Bassline Collection Box Set featuring over 62 albums. Message us to get yours.
