The Maghreban is an outsider. He doesn't really know much about house music at all. Growing up just outside London, around 1990, his brother got him into some of the old hardcore. He still has a few old pirate radio cassettes from that time. He got into drum and bass and hip hop and forgot about dance music entirely. He made some records in some other genres. He bought records in lots of genres - Jazz, Film Soundtracks, World Music, Ska. He learnt how to write navel-gazing biographies in the third person. He gradually became more open minded and started working at some house music. Perhaps this leftfield approach gives him a fresh perspective on it.
