Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, among the more iconic groups The Thanes have appeared alongside on live bills are: ? & the Mysterians, The Remains, The Crawdaddys, The Beatstalkers, The Sonics, Lyres and The Pretty Things! In 2011-12 the group joined forces with the late, truly great George Gallacher, and Fraser Watson of THE POETS, to resurrect the music and feel of the highly acclaimed Glasgow 60s beat legends. With the death of lead singer George Gallacher in August 2012, The Poets are no more!
2014-15 saw The Thanes unleash a couple of well-received 7" singles in the UK , "Dishin' The Dirt' on Dirty Water, and "She's Coming Back To Me" on State; backed with The Poets "Love Is Fading Away'.
