After forming in early 2017 because frontman Josh Hughes spent an extensive amount of time listening to Rozwell Kid, Weezer, Feeder and Dinosaur Pile-Up and wanted to be in one of those band things, the grandiose Thunder and the Giants found themselves with a flurry of gigs and headline slots galore at pizza bars in Liverpool and basements in Wigan after their SoundCloud demos started getting heavy traction, surpassing 2,000 streams in a year.
York Calling named them the "Weezeresque tonic to the highly polished world of commercial music... a sound that is very difficult to get right without just sounding unpractised", a sure sign that 2018 looks to be a massive year for the band, completed by Ben Dignum on guitar, Ant Valente on bass and Graeme Swale on drums.
Their infectious 90s sound will stay with you long after the final tinge of feedback rings out, making you reminisce about the raw vocals, chunky bass and thick drums that the band produces, giving you a reason to spread the word around that the thunder is truly here.
