Torture and the Desert Spiders is a musical project born out of a love for everything left-field and DIY for Anna Kunz. The artist cites major influences such as Wilco, King Gizzard, and M. Ward. The singer/songwriter began performing with the band's initial lineup in January 2019 and since then has continuously shape-shifted. Kunz (aka Torture) is a producer, multi-instrumentalist and lover of mosh-pits.

During quarantine, Kunz wrote, recorded and mixed a selection of new music in total isolation, which is forthcoming this Winter.

As of August 2020, they announced the release of their first of a few singles from their upcoming EP, "Field Recordings of a Social Athlete" aimed for release in February 2020- the first single is "MONEY", released on the 26th of September, garnered spins from KEXP's Sonic Reducer, WDNF Philly, Radio Wigwam, Eagles Nest, Ola's Kool Kitchen, Cult Classics Radio, and has been featured in Indie Midlands, Loud Women, Fast One Last, Moobly Krew and Bido Lito Mag. The second single, "SCARLET" was released on October 24th and was followed by a string of tour dates supporting OTTO for Bay St. Records/ Trackd in November.
