Useless Cities have been described as an indie ABBA. They create bittersweet melodies and nostalgic feelings, with male and female vocals.
The band formed in January 2016, using a disused public toilet in Kentish Town as a rehearsal studio. 8 weeks later they had played their first gig and recorded their first EP, ‘Stay’.
The band has notably played Oxjam East London + Islington, CroCroLand Festival, Sebright Arms, The Monarch, George Tavern and at the O2 Academy Islington. ‘Stay’ EP earned good reviews and radio airplay, including ongoing rotation on DKFM Shoegaze Radio. Their second EP ‘New Feelings’ premiered on XS Noize in March 2017.
Follow up single Eyesore was released 24/11/2017, premiering on GigSlutz, played on Amazing Radio and selected as a Fresh Fave on Tom Robinson’s Fresh On The Net.
Couldn’t Ask For More & A Little Too Obtuse followed in 2018. 2019 will see the release of 3 new tracks, once again produced by Paul Tipler (Elastica/Horrors/Idlewild)
