THE VICTOR RICE QUINTET
Victor Rice is an American-born bassist, composer and producer living in São Paulo, Brazil.
Most-known for his work in reggae and ska in NYC, he later became heavily involved in dub music as well as the Nova MPB movement in São Paulo. Victor’s sonically pioneering work has led him to create a new genre of music he calls Samba - Rocksteady.
He has worked with the Skatalites, Desmond Dekker, Glen Brown, Easy Star Allstars, Laurel Aitken, Elza Soares, Bixiga70 and hundreds more - winning two Latin Grammys along the way.
Rice can be found performing in Europe with his Belgian-based Septet and is currently working on his third LP of instrumental music for Easy Star Records.
Expect to hear eclectic grooves and distinctive melodies from his recent albums Smoke and Drink, both released on the Easy Star Label.
