Biography

WILLY MOLLESON - DRUMMER

Having played drums since he was four and having been touring with bands across the U.K. Ireland and Europe, Willy has achieved a very high professional standard, playing a range of styles from jazz funk, soul, hip hop and fusion music as well as the staples of folk, rock, and pop.

At age 21 Willy moved to Canada and spent 3 years touring Canada and the USA with The Spirit Merchants with Juno Award winning musicians Jesse Zubot and Steve Dawson.

In 1998 Willy moved back to Scotland and was asked by Eliza Carthy to join her band. 25 years later they are still playing together and working and on their 8th album.

A few of the highlights from the 25 years as her drummer were appearances at Glastonbury Main Stage, The Kennedy Centre in DC, The Getty Centre and Viper Rooms in LA, Late Night with Conan O’Brian in NYC, Later with Jools Holland and most recently a sold-out gig at The Barbican in London in 2023.

Some other notable artists Willy has worked with over the years are Maggie Bell of Stone the Crows, Terry Reid, Niki King, Christa Hughes, The Peatbog Fearies and Blues n Trouble, currently with Faye Fife of the Rezillos, Tiptrick with Isaac Sutherland and Bado Réiti, Aerials with Dave Dellare and Phil Alexander and The Blues Messengers with Sandy Tweedale, Chris Agnew, and Ali Petrie.

Willy joins the Elis Macfadyen Band for a gig in Inverness on the 28th of June showcasing the songs from their album True Hearts and Travel Tales.
