A few months ago half of Zefur Wolves (Danny Joseph Wall and Trystan Tahirli) and folk singer Joshua Caole came together as Young Black Americans with the singular aim of making a lot of noise. The result was the ‘Grissom EP’. Finding the perfect recording location mattered to the band as they wanted it to be a unique experience that affected the final sound. None of them imagined the luck that would befall them when they were offered the opportunity to turn the historic Coal Exchange in Cardiff (site of the first ever £1 million pound cheque) into their own personal studio for a day. The ‘Grissom EP’ is a labour of love and dedication to a raw, pure sound. After the last minute offer, the band turned up on the very last day before the Coal Exchange began its refurbishment and lugged cars and cars of gear inside to turn the beautiful hall into an analogue recording studio. The trading hall became the live room, and a side office the control. Engineered and produced by Joshua Caole the EP was then mixed by Joshua and Danny. The result is the ‘Grissom EP’ which has just been inducted into the British Library Sound Archive. This band are dirty, loud, post-punk and grungy. Influences include Unwound, ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Sonic Youth and Nirvana. Their album will follow early 2017.
