Coltrane at Amgueddfa Ceredigion

Local musician, Lyndon Owen, returns with the Coltrane Dedication to Aberystwyth. 

Coltrane Dedication is a collective of Welsh musicians known for their intense, spirited and emotional playing inspired by the later music of John Coltrane. From many years of working together, a confidence and trust has emerged that is reflected in passionate and mesmerizing performances.The players move freely within the improvisational space giving each individual the opportunity to express their own interpretation and, to the delight of the audience, showcase their skills.

 In 2018 the band recorded their live album at the Museum in Aberystwyth; the aptly named “Yn Yr Amgueddfa”.In response, Ian Mann of the Jazz Mann wrote in his review

  “The musicians in the band are well known on the Welsh jazz scene, but the release of this album suggests that it’s now time for them to enjoy wider UK recognition, and I’m more than happy to recommend their skilled and passionate updating of the Coltrane legacy to adventurous jazz listeners everywhere.”

Joining Owen at the Arts Centre will be pianist Dave Jones, Bill Fletcher on double bass, Stefan Jones on drums and Will Cass Tenor and Baritone sax. Owen completes the quintet playing Tenor and Soprano Saxophones.

No performance is ever the same and audiences can expect to enjoy a unique evening of powerful and captivating musicianship.
