A Brave New World, London’s boldest and most cutting-edge new world music festival showcases emerging and established artists from all four corners of the globe, bringing together rising stars and legends for one big party this June.
Originators of Afrobeat and pioneers of the genre Fela Kuti’s original band Africa 70 will come together for an exclusive reunion; founding members Tony Allen, Deli Socimi, Bucky Leo and Femi Elias, will deliver a masterclass in Afrobeat rhythms and percussion. The legacy continues, as rhythm runs in the Kuti DNA with the mighty Seun Kuti & the Egypt 80, who will perform their latest album Black Times nominated for a Grammy.
Joining them on the line-up is Palestinian band 47 Soul, renowned for inventing their own genre Shamstep which fuses hip-hop, electro and Middle Eastern rhythms with lyrics in both Arabic and English, their electric live show will be one not to miss and London-based Hejira’s will captivate audiences with their articulate lyrics and soulful arrangements.
From banging DJ sets on the terrace to a basement art exhibition run by British-based independent record label Soundway Records showcasing their incredible collection of album artwork from African, Caribbean, Latin and Asian artists spanning over five decades, to mouth-watering food pop-ups and craft beer stalls, it will be a cultural party you won’t forget anytime soon.
