Review of Mark Ayres and Roger Limb from The Radiophonic Workshop 

A really interesting talk and demonstration by two pioneers of electronic wizardry. !! So unassuming yet their contribution to the modern electronic sounds is vast , thankyou seventhwave another master class in electronic music 

Disappointing on several levels, the "flyer"/ticket info stated stories and music, Mark did most of the talking, more a lecture with video clips and photos, however no music performed or "live" video shown. Their presentation was "billed" as starting at 15:30, actually started at 16:00 and think it was cut short as Mark did say their taxi was booked to arrive in ten minutes at around 16:55. Nothing about The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy as mentioned in the "build up". A good lecture, but low stars as no music.
We had a long talk from a guy promoting a new syns., good if you were a musician, but not, if like me, your not.
Only music all afternoon was ten:ten who played for 30 mins., very good music/visual for his second piece.
As I "paid" for Mark and Roger stories and music I do think I was ripped off sadly, as if the adverts had stated a lecture/talk I would not have paid the same rate, or not attended.
Were Mark and Roger told one thing, and us the paying public another, hence being disappointed.   

Tim and his excellent band were great, two sets first an improve/ambient number, then the main song set lasting around 65 mins in total, with a mixture of Tim and No-Man numbers, and great to hear an older track as the encore, "Days turn into years". Special mention must go to Andrew on the Drums, amazing to watch, sound well mixed, and Tim's band introductions were very amusing...  
The concert was filmed, for a future release ? 
Only "down side" was no info on the ticket re start time, on the web it said doors opened at 18:30, so majority of us were in the venue by 18:45 as thought the concert would start around 19:00/19:30, however informed not until 20:00, no where locally to go and eat, in a "run down" part of Brum, [sorry], so bar area full and lighting very poor, so not able to even read whilst waiting for the actual hall doors to open, is this the promoters or skiddle's fault, I think each will "blame" th3e other, did mar an otherwise excellent concert by Tim et al.

What am amazing special gig with Tim Bowness and band! Such an  intimate setting and a lovely venue. An incredible night of songs but also a surprise experimental set.  Don't miss them if you can see them!

Great to hear some of the history behind some iconic electronic pieces


Amazing gig ,Tim bowness was  fantastic such a nice fella after the gig spent time chatting and even signed my vinyl. Wonderful night.
