Clint Boon is back with his first weekly residency in Manchester city centre since the closure
of South Nightclub in June 2022. After hosting his weekly ‘Disco Rescue: Boon Army’ club
night at South Nightclub for around 21 years, like thousands of other music lovers, Clint was
devastated at South’s closure.
His new home is ‘Off The Square’ on Lever Street in the Northern Quarter. A similar size to
South and a very similar vibe. Clint thinks he’s found the perfect place. Before the launch of
the new night, Clint said, “I can’t wait to get back into doing a weekly night. It means I can take people on a journey
again, not just on a particular night, but over the weeks, the months, the years. Not only
celebrating the best records ever made, from every genre, but picking up on new music
along the way. Records that haven’t even been made yet! That’s what I loved about South.
Every week was different. Yet every week brought the same beautiful vibes. I made some
great friends in that room, and I know for certain many of them will be stood dancing by the
DJ booth at my new night”
On the nights when Clint is out of town, gigging with the Inspiral Carpets, his ‘Boon Army’
night will be open as usual but with guest DJs, handpicked by Clint, taking care of
proceedings.
