The Undercover Skatepark project has grown out of the enthusiasm of Jacob and Jenna Skinner who have a keen interest in bringing the people together to enjoy the various forms of wheeled sport in an indoor setting. The community-based project was conceived in 2018 and has gathered momentum both within the skateboarding community and in a range of support organisations including Portsmouth City Council, which has been highly supportive and has helped to bring the project to fruition.
Over the years the team have been working hard to build a state-of-the-art indoor wheeled sports leisure facility that can be used all year round, rain or shine. The lease of a vacated Sainsbury’s supermarket in the centre of Portsmouth has been taken and the transformation of the new indoor wheeled sports facility took around a year to complete. The building is based in the Charles Dickens ward, which is in the 10% of the most disadvantaged wards in the UK.
