Depot, formerly known as Mayfield Depot, is set to become a full time music venue.
Broadwick Venues, the team behind Printworks, and local body The Mayfield Partnership plan to transform the space into a huge new music, theatre, film, food and arts venue.
Situated behind Piccadilly station, the former railway station and Royal Mail sorting office has hosted one off events in the past - including Bicep's mighty Warehouse Project display in 2018 (see below), while this year alone both Manchester International Festival and Manchester Pride will come to the venue.
A consortium of developers LCR and U+I, Manchester Council and Transport for Greater Manchester are set to oversee the redevelopment, with the venue still being used for the next five years during a wider £1.1bn redevelopment programme.
Depot will be split into three main areas: Depot, the largest of the three; Concourse, which will host food fairs and free community events; and Archive, a smaller performance space that can be used for rehearsals and studio sessions.
