Scotlands Cultivate Festival returns this September Bank Holiday for two days of the best electronic acts in the world set in their mesmerising venue on the beautiful shores of Aberdeen Beach. Plus, as of this week, the full lineup has finally been revealed, and wow are you ravers in for a treat?
The lineup is forward-thinking and diverse, with some of the biggest names of the moment and the coolest local and underground artists across its three stages in what we believe is one of Scotland's most unique festival venues.
But with so much epic talent, where on earth do you begin when planning who to see? Well, do not worry, as we're putting forward a case for seven of the acts on this lineup, who we think should be on absolutely everyone's radar. Check them out below!
He's the man on everyone's lips at the moment and will be coming to the festival fresh off his first-ever Ibiza residency at Ibiza Rocks, basically, Ben will be in blistering form for this one. With his slot as the main headliner, it should go as a given that you'll be seeing him, but in case you needed reminding, he CANNOT be missed.
A modern Irish Techno icon and a DJ that has been on a groove-laden uphill trajectory since releasing Enter The Dragon in 2021, a release that saw him fly into the most searched artists on Skiddle in 2022. Blk. is the Sunday headliner at Culitvate and if you aren't there giving it a marching two-step, you ain't doing this festival right.
Belfast-born, East London-based GhstGhstGhst is championing a Trance and Jungle infused Techno sound that oozes nostalgia for the 90s rave scene. Famous for only ever revealing his face when behind the decks, this rising star of the the techno world will be a spectral assault of the senses that you just have to witness.
Unique, hypnotic, experimental, the glowing list descriptors for Sara Landry's epic Hard Tech sound could go on and on and on, but what truly matters here is that her live sets always get everyone in a perpetual bounce, screaming at the switch-ups, and gawping at the drops. She's a hard hitter and a groove-setter, and the perfect mid-day act to get the rave juices in full swing.
One of the fastest-rising new duos on the techno block, Kimmic, is for us the ones to watch if you are after a new act at Cultivcate, as they look set to hit the stratosphere. Garnering millions of views on their debut single, a wicked industrial remix of Kaiser Chiefs 'Never Miss A Beat', and new fans every time they play, these boys are gong far, and you'll be able to say you saw them before it was cool.
Getting into the smaller acts on the bill now, we wanted to uncover some gems for you, and Kintra pass the test with flying colours. A DJ/Violin duo comprised of two twin sisters from Scotland, their brand of acidic techno is infused with a Celtic soul and extraterrestrial accompaniments, all whilst expertly picking out moments for the strings to shine. One of the most unique acts on the bill and a good one to catch early, we cant recommend Kintra enough!
REYKA
Having recently made huge strides in the Scottish scene, REYKA looks ready and primed to explode any minute. With a penchant for creating an atmospheric melody through the lens of trance and techno, but also a knack for incorporating jungle and garage vibes, his sound is layered and diverse, and the young spinner will be a wicked warm up before the big hitters, make sure to check him out!
