Moovin Festival finally arrives in Stockport (just outside Manchester) on Friday 25th - Sunday 27th August 2023, the perfect bank holiday weekend treat. A fest that brings together drum and bass, soul, reggae, house, R&B, and more, obviously there are loads of acts we’re super giddy to check out.
With both local artists and legends from across those scenes set to play, we thought we'd take a moment to appreciate the diversity of its lineup and also get you as excited as we are for just a few of the sets going down over the weekend.
The dance legends behind I See You Baby, At The River, and the once totally inescapable Superstylin’ will be getting the Moovin crowd on their toes with a DJ set over the weekend. With years of experience in music, you can bet they know the best of the best tracks, which they’ll certainly drop during their set, hopefully with a few of their own sprinkled in for good measure.
Yep, another dance legend has made the bill for Moovin Fest 2023! Playing live, Goldie, one of the best producers drum and bass has ever seen, will definitely drop some serious heat. Having been on the scene for decades now, he’s churned out more than enough bangers any DnB head is sure to recognise.
Shifting the focus away from the larger artists now, China Lilly is an up-and-coming artist from Manchester. China Lilly fuses elements of soul, hip-hop, and R&B to create a fresh, modern sound, often introspective and spacey.
If you’re in Manchester, why not warm up for her set at Moovin by checking out her upcoming performance in M4? Find tickets here.
Another smaller artist from Manchester, SINDYSMAN is a rapper who often produces his music - a double threat. His alternative hip-hop style borrows from genres including jazz, soul, R&B, and more as he paints pictures with his words.
Formed in 1993, Dreadzone is a bit of a tricky one to put in a box. While their work is electronic music performed on guitar, bass, and drums, there are many influences at play including reggae, dub, and trip-hop. We’re praying it’s sunny when they’re on stage as the combination of their sound and lovely weather will just be heavenly.
If you think you recognise the name DJ Paulette, you probably do. A Hacienda legend back in the day before venturing around the globe to ignite dancefloors at some of the world’s biggest clubs, she’s nothing short of a legend. She always has such incredible, infectious energy, often with a huge smile across her face. It's tricky not to inherently enjoy her sets.
Future Dub Orchestra
We’ve got another one here that doesn’t fit into one box. Blending various soundscapes including jazz, drum and bass, dub, electronic, cinematic sounds, and downtempo, Future Dub Orchestra has gained a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts around right now. And you can see why in the video above.
