Tidy recently announced its Cult of Tidy UK tour ahead of Tidyland Weekender in Southport this July. To honour the tour and festival put on by this iconic brand that has been starting parties for over 25 years, we took a little look at Tidy Trax’s history and the upcoming tour that kicks off on Sunday the 7th of May (this weekend) in Newmarket.

The hard house and hard trance brand was founded in 1995 by Rotherham’s Andy Pickles and Amadeus Mozart. The brand has a hefty underground following of devoted fans that flock to its many events to catch the best names on the scene.

Tidy put out hundreds of releases on its Tidy Trax, Tidy Two, and Untidy labels, taking over clubs with its sounds. Until hard house was replaced with the “next big thing.”

Between 1998 and 2005, the brand was at the top of its game until many DJs no longer wanted to be a part of the hard house scene. But it seems things are looking up for the Tidy Boys with the brand slowly rising to a more mainstream appeal once again as younger generations look back in time for their next musical fixation.

Always aiming to be the best they can be, the duo never took things too seriously. While they’re deeply dedicated and passionate about what they do, Tidy was always about opposing elitist clubbing and ensuring their nights had a down-to-earth, working-class vibe.

The Cult of Tidy tour kicks off this weekend in Newmarket before heading to Birmingham, Exeter, and Swansea, bringing different lineups to each date. Among those performing at the events includes the Tidy Boys, Andy Whitby, Andy Farley, Lucy Hughes, Gumbar, Kaos Brothers, Bryn Whiting, and more to ravers. Then, Tidyland Weekender comes to Southport with some of those artists on the tour, with Hannah Laing, Technikal, Yoji Biomehanika, and so many more.

Tidy has endured some real hardship including hard house going out of style and, of course, COVID delaying its 2022 festival twice. But they aren’t going to let anything stop them from bringing positive vibes, authenticity, and the music they care about to others who love it as much as they do.
