Smooth liquid jazz travels in all directions, never failing never faltering. The second LP by English artists Utah Jazz is an earthquake of trembling high-hats. It’s a 14-track instrumental-led journey into drum and bass commencing with the ethereal and always mellow ‘Comfort Zone’. Vintage released on his new label of the same titular collects an exceptional cast of musical maestros who further enhance and diversify the DJ, producer and remixer extraordinaire’s sonic offering. ‘Bring Back the Love’ channels the buttery crooning of artist Version, chased by fluid drums and tickled strings while 3 minute hip-hop beat ‘Avoiding Puddles’ features Royksopp vocalist Chelonis R Jones. ‘Skyward Bound’ indulges in 70’s guitar loops and harder ‘NRG ’93’ explores 90s hardcore and garage with swift vocals, tumbling melodies as well as a classic piano Continuing our Vintage trajectory we’re welcomed by the holler of The Ragga Twins who echo over a highly sped-up beat in track ‘Enter the Jungle’. This second time round the stalwart Luke Wilson, better known as Utah Jazz, tells a story with mesmerising Vintage drum and bass; laced with brood samples, future funk and effortless soul.
