Alternative indie mainstays Alt-J have released the first song of their eagerly awaited new album This Is All Yours, due out on September 22nd.
We're all hoping the new release follows in the footsteps of their debut mercury prize winning imprint An Awesome Wave, and to start off proceedings they've released a track sampling Miley Cyrus of all people. Fortunately the video for 'Hunger Of The Pine' does not feature Miley Cyrus getting intimate with a wrecking ball, watch it below.
Still, it features a somewhat immortal man running from an anonymous force, who we presume to be Robin Hood's Merry Men, being massacred by a barrage of arrows (hence the Robin Hood reference), before seemingly dousing himself in petrol and being rained on by fireballs. All a little full on for our sore heads on a Wednesday morning.
The video directed by Nabil Elderkin is perfectly executed and extremely captivating, perfectly encompassing the songs naturalistic feel conveyed by washing synth sounds, harrowing vocals and electronic ambiance entwined with the feeling of pain stemming from the song lyrics.
Like what you see? Alt J embark on a seven date UK tour to showcase their new album throughout September, including a sold out gig at London's Alexandra Palace.
