Amadou and Mariam are due to return to the UK in February 2006 for a twelve date 'African Soul Rebels UK Tour 2006' with Souad Massi and Emmanuel Jal. There will also be film screenings of 'Dimanche à Bamako' the documentary about the making of the album in the tour venues and cities (dates below).
The tour precedes the release of Amadou and Mariam's next single Coulibaly, which comes backed with mixes by Ashley Beedle, Akon, and Kano. The crossover potential is bubbling, with the mixes already buzzing round the club circuit and receiving Radio 1 airplay from Zane Lowe. A DVD is also due in February, which
includes a documentary about the making of their Grammy- and MOBO- nomiated album 'Dimanche à Bamako'.
Amadou and Mariam are huge stars in their native Africa, and their latest album Dimanche à Bamako was written and produced in collaboration with Manu Chao. Dimanche à Bamako was a huge hit in France, and has been getting acclaim in the UK and USA, garnering MOBO and Grammy nominations in late 2005, and places in MOJO, The Times, Telegraph, and Observer Music Monthly Albums of the Year 2005.
