An introduction to Moovin Festival

Moovin Festival is just around the corner. Here’s how the festival started and what you can expect from this year’s edition.

Moovin Festival returns to Whitebottom Farm in Stockport (Greater Manchester) on Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th August 2024, and once again, they’re bringing us an eclectic lineup covering DnB, reggae, house, soul, funk, and more.

Since the festival is just around the corner, and since it has become a staple in both Stockport and Greater Manchester’s festival calendar, we thought we’d dig into the festival’s history a bit, just before the 2024 edition arrives.

Moovin-Festival

Moovin Festival started back in 2014. Its first ever shindig was as a small party in a cow barn for a few hundred music lovers that later grew to become the boutique festival it is today, attracting people from across Greater Manchester and beyond. Taking place close to Manchester but distant enough to feel like its own universe, you can find Moovin on the eco-friendly Whitebottom Farm in the countryside of Etherow Country Park in Compstall - the festival’s home since day one.

If you’re wondering why the festival didn’t opt to move to a bigger site to accommodate its increased fanbase, the answer’s quite simple: Moovin wants to keep its lineups big and its capacity small. Keeping the friendly and personal atmosphere that keeps it special is vital to the team behind it all. This is what made friendships on the festival site happen each year.

Boasting an intoxicating mix of genres including DnB, reggae, house, soul, and funk, performed by both emerging artists and heroes of those scenes, the fest continues to attract Moovin virgins. Featuring plenty more than just music like fire shows, yoga, cabaret, comedy, gong baths, ethically sourced foods and cocktails, and walkabout performers, Moovin is all about blissful escapism.
