Bass, 'bitches' and boundaries: Skiddle pries into Borgore's brain

Skiddle caught up with filthy dubstep extraordinaire Borgore; 'A young man following big dreams, a private beach and The Olsen Twins.'

We asked the man from Tel Aviv about musical collaborations, his past as a death metal drummer, what he'll do when he reaches 110 years old, and a promising career in politics. He also tells us where the lyrics come from. Read on!

Please define 'Gorestep'
Just the toughest dubstep you can imagine - it's about pushing boundaries.
 
Your lyrics are genius. Where do they come from and how do you get away with them?
It's just real. In this is age it's hard to shock kids so I'm just trying capture people's attention… looks like it's working.
 
What's the creative process like behind the making of a nasty drop?
Time - it's about knowing the programmes inside out so you can create and layer noises that no one else is using. You have to spend time finding the 'sweet spot' on a synth. And spending time on creating noises no one else is using - otherwise everyone sounds the same!
 
You are playing the Hideout Festival this year. Looking forward to it? What's the best gig you've done so far?
Yep I'm looking forward to all the shows this year. Both in the USA and Europe we've upped the production of the show. In the States I'm currently on a 6 week headline bus tour. Then I come back to Europe for club shows before we then hit the festivals  - currently I'm playing Global Gathering, SW4, Creamfields, Bestival, Pukklepop, Hideout, Rockafield and a load more. It's so hard to say which is the best. We did a secret gig at East Village for the release of the Borgore Mis Adventures of Dubstep with UKF. It was the first time we had had the whole Buygore crew in the same place and we did over 1500 free tickets for a 500 person club - it was an amazing atmosphere!

The weirdest thing a fan did?
Usually it's guys who bring their girlfriend over and then are happy for her trying to get with me. Like they're happy for their girl to do whatever in front of them cos it's Borgore. I say give the fans what they want!

 
I read somewhere that you'd like to do a collaboration with Dying Fetus (awesome). If you could, what would the track be called, and what would it be like?
Yeah there are tons of people I would love to collab with. Dying Fetus would be awesome. I just did a record with Dev called Kiss My Lips which is sick! Collabs are so much fun because it's a mashing together of sounds - I wanna work with tons of people from hip hop to metal to jazz!
 
What's was the jump like from being a death metal drummer to where you are now? Do you get behind the kit much, or do you intend to go back?
Music is music. It's not tough. Music evolves. One day as part of the live show I wanna incorporate the drums - we've already done it once as a one off but I still have a passion for it so it will return at some point.

Chameleon - so I could hide when I get into sticky situations.
 
What do you reckon would happen in the first two minutes on Earth if the sun disappeared from the sky completely?
Wouldn't it be just like the two minutes when it becomes night anyway? Or is that not the idea?
 
If you live to be 110, what will you do at your 110th birthday party?
